Maine Farm Day is coming up and we're going! (ie. We'll be closed that day)

So, it's Maine Farm Day on Sunday, July 26th and we (Julia, Jessica, Anna, Donna, & Stephanie) are all going to different farms, and the store will be closed so that we can do this. We're going to visit some of the farmers who currently provide us with their wonderful goods, and others to hopefully be able to pick up more local goods. So, want to go? Well here's the link to the Get Real Maine website with a list of local farmers in your county, www.getrealmaine.com/visit/open_farm_day.html . Hope to see you at one of the farms. Just a little update

The building is coming right along! We have painted walls and the flooring is finished... Julia is working her little booty off to open the doors as quickly as possible!
In the mean time I have a little product information to share. There is a very tasty drink that we will have in stock called Firefly Tonics. I tried my first one the other day and I was blown away! You have a choice between: Wake Up, Detox, Sharpen Up, Chill Out, and Recharge. Made with all natural herbs, teas, and fruits these little juices will not disappoint! For more information check out their website at www.fireflytonics.com we are excited for you all to stop in to see what we've got. More updates coming soon, until then, enjoy the sunny spring weather!

Dandelion Spring Farm

That's right folks...we will have fresh produce! Dandelion Spring Farm is a small vegetable and sheep farm located in Washington, Maine growing a wide selection of heirloom varieties. They "believe strongly that healthy food comes from healthy soild, and with that we (they) focus on the whole farm system." We will be proud to carry whatever is in season from Dandelion Spring Farm. For more information you can check out the Local Harvest website.

from the baker...

Not only do I love to bake, but I LOVE coffee and Julia has given me quite a voice in our coffee decisions. We have not taken this matter lightly. Where to get our espresso from that we will be serving to all of you has been a very serious topic. After multiple sippings, some serious caffeine highs, and much java talk, we have settled on Matt's Wood Roasted Organic Coffee, cooked up right here in Maine! Julia and I went and met with him directly to sample his goods and we were wowed. His motto "wood is good" is an understatement. He roasts his beans in a wood fired oven and boy does he roast. I did not try a coffee I did not like. If this doesn't get you excited about morning coffee at Sweets & Meats, then think of pairing that tasty fresh brew with a warm homemade danish! Please check out more information on his website just follow the link!

from the baker...

HELLO!! And welcome to the "Sweets" side of Sweets and Meats Market. Over the next month, I will be here to give you little insights to what we will be carrying in the bakery at the Market. I am working on recipes already to make sure they are ready to satisfy your taste buds. For Easter this year, I decided to use my family as testers for my Sweets and Meats Market creations. Needless to say I think the walnut and current rugelach passed the test and will be making an appearance on our shelves. So keep checking in for new goodies and get excited!!

Contractors Ahoy

Well yesterday was a fun day. Not only did I get to meet many potential contractors but I also got to meet with the architect and select flooring! Well this is going to be the best market in town with the best views in town. So, in the photos ignore the mini blinds-those will be removed, and imagine yourself enjoying a cup of coffee, selecting a delicious cheese, picking up a bag of Jessica's wonderful crackers, and enjoying the view. Summer is on it's way, and so is Sweets & Meats Market.
